Perfect Placement
Just received this email from a couple who attended a Weekend To Remember last year:
I really should share with you. Â Last year, my husband and I attended because we had been struggling with each other due to infertility and many problems with adoptions. Â We had had so many ups and downs with the adoption that it was taking a toll on us. Â The week-end was amazing and we left renewed. Â At the conference I had put a prayer in the prayer box for “the perfect placement of our daughter” as we were pursuing an adoption of a little girl in Taiwan. Â We left on Sunday, feeling really good and then on Monday received a horrible e-mail stating that there were new requirements that we did not meet for the adoption (after 10 months of turning in paperwork, sending money and going through the home study). Â We felt like God had turned his back on us. Â Really I’m not sure we as a couple would have been strong enough to have endured this had we not just attended the conference. Â To make a long story short, we then found out we were pregnant in October and in January found out it is a girl. Â I now realize God did answer our prayer of the perfect placement of our daughter, just not the way we thought it would happen. Â Praise God. Â Thank you so much for offering such a wonderful week-end.

FIRST LADY LAURA BUSH ENCOURAGES AMERICANS TO RESPOND TO THE CRY OF THE ORPHAN
“The Cry of the Orphan campaign is helping caring people learn how they can bring new hope to children who don’t have families.â€
―Mrs. Laura Bush
Oct. 30, 2008— Cry of the Orphan is on a mission to raise awareness and show Christians and churches across the United States how they can take action right now to be involved in caring for the world’s 130 million orphans—and Mrs. Laura Bush is among those responding to the cry.
“I have visited with children in orphanages around the world and what each of these children has in common is the desire for a family to love and to call their own,†explains first lady Laura Bush in a new public service announcement for the Cry of the Orphan campaign. “You can make a profound difference in a child’s life―whether through adoption, mentoring a foster youth, or starting a ministry for orphaned children at your church.â€
Mrs. Bush’s public service announcement will soon be heard on radio stations across the country. You can also listen to it on CryoftheOrphan.org. The Web site has tapped into the extensive resources of FamilyLife, Focus on the Family, Shaohannah’s Hope (founded by award-winning musician Steven Curtis Chapman), and the organizations involved in the Christian Alliance for Orphans to help people learn about the many opportunities to help orphans.
The site now includes an easy-to-use tool that provides you with a personalized list of ways to get involved in orphan care. Along with tips and tools to help people care for orphans and better understand God’s heart on this issue, CryoftheOrphan.org is also offering more ways to explore the plight of the orphan, including an updated directory of organizations involved, a Google Earth exploration tool, and facts and stories that will inspire and instruct.
Along with its new Web site, Cry of the Orphan will be reaching out to millions of Christian radio listeners across the country.
Nov. 17-21: Popular radio hosts Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family and Dennis Rainey of FamilyLife Today plan to devote their daily broadcasts and combine their organizations’ resources to show people how they can play an important role in responding to the world’s 130 million orphans.
