Contract signed!
On Monday morning, Campus Crusade for Christ President Steve Douglass signed the contract that my boss and I have been working on for several weeks and launched the implementation phase of Project Database. The contract with a ministry software company called DonorDirect (www.donordirect.com) will involve a large portion of the ministry over the next ten months. Because of the total value of the contract, Crusade policy required the signature of both the President and the CFO. This represents another huge milestone and we are very grateful to have it behind us. Now the work really begins! Join us in giving thanks to the Father and please keep the rest of the project in prayer.

Mission Impossible
Last Wednesday (6/7) I had the opportunity to announce to the entire staff that a decision had been made regarding the new software database platform. Presenting a software selection can be a little boring for the layman so I decided to jazz it up a little. We called it Mission: Impossible – Project Database and presented as if it was a mission briefing of our local IMF team (Impossible Mission Force) – complete with trenchcoat and all! The presentation was well received and afterwards they took the opportunity to recognize and thank the entire Information Services team.

Unanimous Approval
We made our presentation on Tuesday morning to the President’s Cabinet and they gave unanimous approval to our proposed software solution! It was a big relief to get that finished and to hear them express the confidence that they had in the job we’d done. Praise God!

Newsletter: The latest on FamilyLife’s big technology shift
As most of you know, as Director of Information Services I’ve been asked to lead the project of replacing our foundational software systems and Internet site. This software is used to coordinate the 200+ conferences and seminars we lead, the 7 different broadcasts we produce that are carried by over 1000 outlets and listened to 9.1 million times per week, production and sales for the life-changing products that come from FamilyLife Publishing, as well as all the administrative stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Once our new Internet site is launched, our constituents will be able to experience a totally personalized FamilyLife.com that guides them to the help they need sooner.
This multi-million dollar project is going to be changing things around headquarters between now and July 2007, when we’re scheduled to go live, and for years afterward. Our board has looked at many different software partners and selected our top choice and by the end of April we hope to have contract details worked out. Make sure to catch the latest news on our blog at www.walkerfamilylife.com/blog.

Software Vendor Chosen
After several months of work as a project committee and several years of seeking a software solution by the ministry, our four man board came to a unanimous decision at the end of March. We are now beginning contract negotiations with the vendor and, once those details are worked out, we’ll launch the implementation phase. This ministry-wide effort will include a review of nearly all of our business processes and largescale changes that will impact efficiency across the board. Our deadline for implementation is June of 2007. There’s much to do but it’s exciting to be close to starting. Keep us in prayer.
