Commitment or Confinement?
Did you hear the pearl of worldly wisdom on the most recent episode (Nov 25) of CBS’s The Amazing Race? Eliminated contestant Jason and his girlfriend Lorena were discussing their future after the race. Lorena obviously has a desire to be married, but Jason has a problem with that kind of commitment.
“There’s some kind of confinement within a marriage that you can’t have when your just free. … When two people are just free I feel like they experience a deeper love because they’re in it because they want to stay in it.”
Like so many people today, Jason doesn’t see any value to marriage. He’s perfectly happy with his current arrangement. He’s afraid of being confined.
